“With nearly 1 million veterans living in Pennsylvania, the DMVA's Online Donations service is a great way to honor and support these brave men and women throughout the year. ”

– Mike Ansley, General Manager, Pennsylvania Interactive, LLC

The Background

The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) received donations through the renewal of driver’s licenses, photo IDs, and vehicle registrations via the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). In addition, the DMVA accepted donations via mail or in person. These methods presented limited opportunities for donors to support veterans, and were time-consuming and required processing.

The Solution

In collaboration with NIC, the DMVA Online Donations service was launched. The responsive-designed service makes it accessible on an array of devices and donors can now make online contributions 24/7. Individuals can use a credit card to make a tax-deductible contribution online to support the following military-related causes: The Veterans’ Trust Fund (VTF), The Military Family Relief Assistance Program (MFRAP), The Pennsylvania Veterans’ Memorial at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, and any of the six Pennsylvania State Veterans Homes across the Commonwealth. In addition, the enhanced service gives donors the ability to honor a specific veteran through the “Virtual Donor Wall.” This feature allows contributions to be personalized, then displays an online plaque in recognition of the veteran.

The Results

With nearly 1 million veterans living in Pennsylvania, the DMVA’s Online Donations service is a great way to honor and support these brave men and women throughout the year on observances, such as birthdays, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day. Since its debut, the service has garnered more than $10,000 in online donations for the DMVA.
