Federal, State and Local Are at The Core of NIC

NIC was founded on the principle of being the best partner government has ever had. While we offer services to all government branches, we started by serving state governments.

Our company started in 1992 by partnering with the State of Kansas to provide citizens with access to government services online. Since then, we’ve planted/opened offices and operations state-by-state in capital cities to include more than 30 states in the NIC network, spanning from Maine to Hawaii.

The NIC state business model was created to make work easier for state governments and access to services easier for citizens. Our unique funding models and statewide contract agreements allow us to help innovate alongside all government agencies across the state enterprise, creating efficiencies and breaking down silos. We’re also able to utilize our network to share innovations across the nation!

Who We Serve

Federal

NIC’s presence in federal government is just as strong. Headquartered in Arlington, VA, NIC partners with 14 federal agencies to transform how citizens and businesses interact with government. NIC’s digital solutions enable agencies to dedicate more time and resources to their missions while minimizing government risk, cost and oversight requirements. Significant federal solutions include Pre-Employment Screening Program with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration; YourPassNow for passes and permits to public lands; and Recreation.gov for reservations at 3,600 public land facilities and 103,000 individual sites. NIC holds a GSA Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) contract. For more information about GSA MAS contract 47QTCA20D007P, please email gsaschedule70@egov.com.

State

While we offer services to all government branches, we started by serving state governments.

The NIC state enterprise business model was created to make work easier for state governments and access to services easier for citizens. Our unique funding models and statewide contract agreements allow us to help innovate alongside all government agencies across the state enterprise, creating efficiencies and breaking down silos.

Local

At the local level, NIC provides custom solutions and flexible partnership approaches using enterprise contracts in 30 states, as well as cooperative purchasing agreements that any local government can leverage. Whether a local agency needs a custom solution or a state is looking for a strategic digital government partner, we have the team and expertise to deliver solutions quickly and effectively.

How?

NIC forms a dedicated team and secures office space in the capital city.

  • The local team begins visiting with state agencies to understand the agency’s needs and problems our digital solutions can help solve.
  • We get to work! There’s no need for another procurement or competitive bid process.
  • Tapping into the network of NIC states, we can quickly spin up customized versions of existing solutions or create new solutions to meet the partner’s needs.
