Harry H. Herington

Harry H. Herington joined NIC Inc. (Nasdaq: EGOV) in 1995, and is considered one of the early founders that helped transform the small Kansas start-up to the nationally recognized company it is today. Mr. Herington was appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board in 2008. NIC currently manages digital government solutions in 31 states, as well as the federal government, and securely processes more than $21 billion annually on behalf of its government partners.
In 2012, he received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year® Award for Technology in the Central Midwest Region. He was also named one of Government Technology’s 2017 Top 25 Doers, Dreamers and Drivers, and received a 2018 StateScoop 50 Industry Leadership of the Year award. His management philosophy has been featured in the New York Times, Forbes, and Entrepreneur magazine. Mr. Herington is involved with numerous charities dedicated to assisting children in need and those supporting families of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. Before joining NIC, Mr. Herington began his career in law enforcement in Texas and Kansas, and served as the Associate General Counsel for the Kansas League of Municipalities. Mr. Herington holds a B.S. degree from Wichita State University and a J.D. degree from the University of Kansas School of Law.
