On August 24, 2014, members of the Maine.gov portal attended the 2014 Run for the Fallen held in Brunswick, Maine. The Run for the Fallen organization (http://www.runforthefallenmaine.org) was formed in 2008 and is dedicated to keeping alive the memory of military heroes that have given their lives while in service to the country. The organization provides general assistance funds and scholarships to the families of fallen heroes. Governor Paul LePage, First Lady Ann LePage and Congressman Mike Michaud were in attendance and spoke at the event. Family members of fallen heroes, as well as several active duty military personnel, lined the course and offered thanks and encouragement to all runners.
