New Jersey State Police Background Name Check Service Named Innovation of the Year by StateScoop 50

WEST TRENTON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Criminal History Record Request - Name Check 212, which is the online service developed for the New Jersey State Police, was named winner of the StateScoop 50 Awards Innovation of the Year. The award-winning online service simplifies the process for requesting background checks for noncriminial justice licensing or employment. The StateScoop 50 Awards highlight the best and brightest IT leaders and programs that make state and local government more efficient and effective. The online version of the SBI 212B Form (Name Check Only Request for Criminal History Record Information for a Noncriminal Justice Purpose) is accessible using the following URL: https://www.njportal.com/njsp/212b/

The service provides employers, licensing authorities, volunteer organizations, and private detectives the ability to securely submit background check requests and pay online. If approval of the background check is required by the subject, the system will automatically send notification to that person via email, who can either approve or deny the request electronically. After successful payment and necessary approvals, if required, the information is available to the state police for review and processing. Additionally, the requester will receive email notifications as the status changes.

The online SBI 212B Form is mobile-friendly and can be completed on any device, at any time.

This service is a product of a partnership between the state of New Jersey and the New Jersey Information Division of NICUSA, Inc., which is the official digital government partner of the state of New Jersey, helping New Jersey government entities Web-enable their information services.
